ततश् चित्राणि शुभ्राणि सुमहान्ति महारथाः ॥
कार्मुकाण्य् आददुस् तूर्णम् अर्जुनार्थे परंतपाः ॥
तथैव धनुर् आयच्छत् पार्थः शत्रुविनाशनः ॥
गाण्डीवं दिव्यकर्मा तद् राजन् दुर्मन्त्रिते तव ॥
तवापराधाद् धि नरा निहता बहुधा युधि ॥
नानादिग्भ्यः समाहूताः सहयाः सरथद्विपाः ॥
तेषाम् आसीद् व्यतिक्षेपो गर्जताम् इतरेतरम् ॥
दुर्योधनमुखानां च पाण्डूनाम् ऋषभस्य च ॥

tataś citrāṇi śubhrāṇi sumahānti mahārathāḥ ||
kārmukāṇy ādadus tūrṇam arjunārthe paraṃtapāḥ ||
tathaiva dhanur āyacchat pārthaḥ śatruvināśanaḥ ||
gāṇḍīvaṃ divyakarmā tad rājan durmantrite tava ||
tavāparādhād dhi narā nihatā bahudhā yudhi ||
nānādigbhyaḥ samāhūtāḥ sahayāḥ sarathadvipāḥ ||
teṣām āsīd vyatikṣepo garjatām itaretaram ||
duryodhanamukhānāṃ ca pāṇḍūnām ṛṣabhasya ca ||

Traducción

Then the great warriors, chastisers of enemies, swiftly seized their many-colored, bright, exceedingly great bows against Arjuna; and Partha likewise drew his bow, Gandiva — the exterminator of enemies, performer of wondrous deeds — O king, by your evil counsel. For it is by your fault that men were slain in great numbers in battle — summoned from every quarter, with horses, chariots, and elephants. There was a clash between them, roaring at one another — between those led by Duryodhana and the bull [among] the Pandavas.
