संजय उवाच
एवम् उक्तस् तदा सूतः शिक्षितान् साधुवाहिनः ॥
शशाङ्कसंनिकाशान् वै वाजिनो ऽचूचुदद् भृशम् ॥
ते पिबन्त इवाकाशं युयुधानं हयोत्तमाः ॥
प्रापयन् यवनाञ् शीघ्रं मनःपवनरंहसः ॥
सात्यकिं ते समासाद्य पृतनास्व् अनिवर्तिनम् ॥
बहवो लघुहस्ताश् च शरवर्षैर् अवाकिरन् ॥
saṃjaya uvāca
evam uktas tadā sūtaḥ śikṣitān sādhuvāhinaḥ ||
śaśāṅkasaṃnikāśān vai vājino 'cūcudad bhṛśam ||
te pibanta ivākāśaṃ yuyudhānaṃ hayottamāḥ ||
prāpayan yavanāñ śīghraṃ manaḥpavanaraṃhasaḥ ||
sātyakiṃ te samāsādya pṛtanāsv anivartinam ||
bahavo laghuhastāś ca śaravarṣair avākiran ||
So addressed, then the charioteer drove on vigorously the trained, well-going, moon-like horses. They, as if drinking the sky, the finest horses, delivered Yuyudhana [to] the Yavanas swiftly, [with] the speed of thought [and] wind. Having encountered Satyaki, [who,] in the ranks, does not turn back, many swift-handed [warriors] overwhelmed [him] with showers of arrows.

The horses, "pibantaḥ iva ākāśam" -- as if drinking the sky, carry Satyaki swiftly into the very thick of the Yavanas: a resolute will delivers one to the goal without delay. It is telling that even the means submit to firm will. The verse teaches that resolve draws to itself all that is needed: when will is set upon a goal, even the horses run with the swiftness of thought, for firm intention gathers together all the powers required for accomplishment.
