तेषाम् इषून् अथास्त्राणि वेगवन् नतपर्वभिः ॥
अच्छिनत् सात्यकी राजन् नैनं ते प्राप्नुवञ् शराः ॥
रुक्मपुङ्खैः सुनिशितैर् गार्ध्रपत्रैर् अजिह्मगैः ॥
उच्चकर्त शिरांस्य् उग्रो यवनानां भुजान् अपि ॥
शैक्यायसानि वर्माणि कांस्यानि च समन्ततः ॥
भित्त्वा देहांस् तथा तेषां शरा जग्मुर् महीतलम् ॥
teṣām iṣūn athāstrāṇi vegavan nataparvabhiḥ ||
acchinat sātyakī rājan nainaṃ te prāpnuvañ śarāḥ ||
rukmapuṅkhaiḥ suniśitair gārdhrapatrair ajihmagaiḥ ||
uccakarta śirāṃsy ugro yavanānāṃ bhujān api ||
śaikyāyasāni varmāṇi kāṃsyāni ca samantataḥ ||
bhittvā dehāṃs tathā teṣāṃ śarā jagmur mahītalam ||
Their arrows and weapons Satyaki swiftly cut down with smooth-jointed shafts, O king; those arrows could not reach him. With gold-feathered, sharply whetted, vulture-plumed, straight-flying shafts, the fierce one lopped off the heads of the Yavanas, and their arms as well. Piercing armor of tempered iron and bronze from every side, and their bodies too, the arrows went into the earth.

The arrows of Satyaki pierce through "śaikyāyasāni... kāṃsyāni" — tempered iron and bronze: no armor, however strong, turns aside the blow of one protected by the Lord. It is notable that the strength of metal is powerless before his hand. The verse teaches that outward defense does not save before a force moved by the Highest: even hardened mail and bronze are pierced through when the arrow flies from one behind whom stand the righteous cause and the will of the Supreme.
