शलभानाम् इव व्राताः शराः कर्णसमीरिताः ॥
चापाद् आधिरथेर् मुक्ताः प्रपतन्तः स्म सायकाः ॥
एको दीर्घ इव प्रांशुः प्रभवन् दृश्यते शरः ॥
पर्वतं वारिधाराभिश् छादयन्न् इव तोयदः ॥
कर्णः प्राच्छादयत् क्रुद्धो भीमं सायकवृष्टिभिः ॥
तत्र भारत भीमस्य बलवीर्यपराक्रमम् ॥
व्यवसायं च पुत्रास् ते प्रैक्षन्त कुरुभिः सह ॥

te vyomni ratnavikṛtā vyakāśanta sahasraśaḥ ||
śalabhānām iva vrātāḥ śarāḥ karṇasamīritāḥ ||
cāpād ādhirather muktāḥ prapatantaḥ sma sāyakāḥ ||
eko dīrgha iva prāṃśuḥ prabhavan dṛśyate śaraḥ ||
parvataṃ vāridhārābhiś chādayann iva toyadaḥ ||
karṇaḥ prācchādayat kruddho bhīmaṃ sāyakavṛṣṭibhiḥ ||
tatra bhārata bhīmasya balavīryaparākramam ||
vyavasāyaṃ ca putrās te praikṣanta kurubhiḥ saha ||

Traducción

They [in] the sky, adorned with gems, shone by the thousands, like swarms of locusts — arrows, loosed by Karna. Loosed [from] the bow of the son of Adhiratha, the flying arrows [merged so that] one long, tall, issuing arrow seemed to be seen. Like a cloud covering a mountain with streams of water, Karna, enraged, covered Bhima with showers of arrows. There, O Bharata, your sons beheld, together with the Kurus, the strength, valor, might, and resolve of Bhima.
