फलमूलाशने युक्तस् त्वं तथातिथिभोजने ॥
न त्वां शस्त्रसमुद्योगे योग्यं मन्ये वृकोदर ॥
पुष्पमूलफलाहारो व्रतेषु नियमेषु च ॥
उचितस् त्वं वने भीम न त्वं युद्धविशारदः ॥
क्व युद्धं क्व मुनित्वं च वनं गच्छ वृकोदर ॥
न त्वं युद्धोचितस् तात वनवासरतिर् भव ॥
सूदान् भृत्यजनान् दासांस् त्वं गृहे त्वरयन् भृशम् ॥
योग्यस् ताडयितुं क्रोधाद् भोजनार्थं वृकोदर ॥

phalamūlāśane yuktas tvaṃ tathātithibhojane ||
na tvāṃ śastrasamudyoge yogyaṃ manye vṛkodara ||
puṣpamūlaphalāhāro vrateṣu niyameṣu ca ||
ucitas tvaṃ vane bhīma na tvaṃ yuddhaviśāradaḥ ||
kva yuddhaṃ kva munitvaṃ ca vanaṃ gaccha vṛkodara ||
na tvaṃ yuddhocitas tāta vanavāsaratir bhava ||
sūdān bhṛtyajanān dāsāṃs tvaṃ gṛhe tvarayan bhṛśam ||
yogyas tāḍayituṃ krodhād bhojanārthaṃ vṛkodara ||

Traducción

'Fit to eat fruits and roots are you, likewise to entertain guests; not you do I deem fit for the wielding of weapons, Vrikodara. Living on food of flowers, roots, and fruits, in vows and observances, fitting are you in the forest, Bhima; you are not skilled in battle. Where is battle, and where is asceticism? Go to the forest, Vrikodara; you are not fit for battle, dear one — be one fond of dwelling in the forest. Cooks, servants, slaves — you, hurrying them greatly at home, are fit to beat out of anger, for the sake of food, Vrikodara.'
