यो ऽगात चतुरो वेदान् यश् च वेदेषु गीयते ॥
तं प्रपद्य महात्मानं भूतिम् आप्नोत्य् अनुत्तमाम् ॥
धनंजयसखा यश् च धनंजयहितश् च यः ॥
तं धनंजयगोप्तारं प्रपद्य सुखम् एधते ॥
इत्य् उक्तौ तौ महात्मानाव् उभौ केशवपाण्डवौ ॥
ताव् अब्रूतां तदा हृष्टौ राजानं पृथिवीपतिम् ॥
yo 'gāta caturo vedān yaś ca vedeṣu gīyate ||
taṃ prapadya mahātmānaṃ bhūtim āpnoty anuttamām ||
dhanaṃjayasakhā yaś ca dhanaṃjayahitaś ca yaḥ ||
taṃ dhanaṃjayagoptāraṃ prapadya sukham edhate ||
ity uktau tau mahātmānāv ubhau keśavapāṇḍavau ||
tāv abrūtāṃ tadā hṛṣṭau rājānaṃ pṛthivīpatim ||
"Whoever has taken refuge in Him who proclaimed the four Vedas and who is glorified in the Vedas, the great one of soul, attains unsurpassed prosperity. Whoever has taken refuge in Him who is the friend and benefactor of Dhananjaya, the protector of Dhananjaya, prospers in happiness." Hearing this, the two great souls, both Keshava and the Pandava [Arjuna], delighted, then spoke to the king, lord of the earth.

Yudhishthira crowns his praise: Krishna is both the source of the Vedas and the one glorified in them; refuge in Him is the highest good. Notable is that he calls Him "the friend and protector of Arjuna": the Lord's closeness to His devotee is itself an object of worship. The verse teaches that the Lord, who revealed the Vedas and is praised in them, is accessible as a friend to His devotee; and whoever takes refuge in Him who protects the faithful attains not only salvation but the bliss of friendship with the Supreme.
