उरसा धारयन् निष्कम् अग्निमालां यथाचलः ॥
तस्य हेममयं चित्रं बहुरूपाङ्गशोभितम् ॥
तोरणप्रतिमं शुभ्रं किरीटं मूर्ध्न्य् अशोभत ॥
कुण्डले बालसूर्याभे मालां हेममयीं शुभाम् ॥
धारयन् विपुलं कांस्यं कवचं च महाप्रभम् ॥
किङ्किणीशतनिर्घोषं रक्तध्वजपताकिनम् ॥
ऋक्षचर्मावनद्धाङ्गं नल्वमात्रं महारथम् ॥

The fearsome rakshasa is adorned with gold, a crown, and earrings 'like the young sun': behind the terrifying appearance is royal splendor. It is telling that Ghatotkacha, savage in form, bears upon himself the marks of dignity and beauty. The verse teaches that a terrifying exterior does not cancel greatness: nobility lives even in a fearsome being; and the adornment of Bhima's son declares that he is no monster from the abyss but a warrior-prince, honored and beloved by his own.
