पुरा करोति निःशेषां पाण्डवानाम् अनीकिनीम् ॥

Then Bhimasena grew angry at Dhrishtadyumna, O honored one; with fierce words he stung him, O bull among men: 'Born in the line of Drupada, most skilled in every weapon — what kshatriya, deeming himself such, would only gaze upon the standing foe? Having gained the chance to avenge his father and his sons, what man would let it pass, especially having sworn an oath in the royal assembly? This Drona, like the fire Vaishvanara, kindled by his own might...'

Bhima strikes Dhrishtadyumna at his most tender spot: you were born to kill Drona, you lost your father, you swore an oath — and yet you hesitate? It is telling that reproach here serves as a spur to valor. The verse teaches that a friend's harsh word is sometimes more needed than comfort: to remind someone of duty, oath, and grievance is to awaken resolve; and a bitter rebuke, striking at honor, can rouse a warrior where gentleness would only lull his will to sleep.
