यं प्राप्य विजितात्मानं महात्मानं नराधिपाः ॥
इक्ष्वाकवो महीपाला लेभिरे पृथिवीम् इमाम् ॥
पुरोहितवरं प्राप्य वसिष्ठम् ऋषिसत्तमम् ॥
ईजिरे क्रतुभिश् चापि नृपास् ते कुरुनन्दन ॥
स हि तान् याजयाम् आस सर्वान् नृपतिसत्तमान् ॥
ब्रह्मर्षिः पाण्डवश्रेष्ठ बृहस्पतिर् इवामरान् ॥

ikṣvākavo mahīpālā lebhire pṛthivīm imām ||

sa hi tān yājayām āsa sarvān nṛpatisattamān ||
brahmarṣiḥ pāṇḍavaśreṣṭha bṛhaspatir ivāmarān ||

इक्ष्वाकवः महीपालाः लेभिरे पृथिवीम् इमाम्ikṣvākavaḥ mahīpālāḥ lebhire pṛthivīm imāmthe Ikshvaku kings, obtained this earth;
पुरोहितवरं प्राप्य वसिष्ठम् ऋषिसत्तमम्purohitavaraṃ prāpya vasiṣṭham ṛṣisattamamobtaining the best of purohitas, Vasishtha, the foremost of sages,
ईजिरे क्रतुभिः च अपि नृपाः ते कुरुनन्दनījire kratubhiḥ ca api nṛpāḥ te kurunandanathose kings offered sacrifices, O joy of the Kurus;
सः हि तान् याजयाम् आस सर्वान् नृपतिसत्तमान्saḥ hi tān yājayām āsa sarvān nṛpatisattamānfor he performed the sacrifices for all those foremost of kings,
ब्रह्मर्षिः पाण्डवश्रेष्ठ बृहस्पतिः इव अमरान्brahmarṣiḥ pāṇḍavaśreṣṭha bṛhaspatiḥ iva amarānthe brahmarishi, O best of the Pandavas, as Brihaspati [performs them] for the immortals;

"Obtaining him, the self-controlled, the great-souled, the Ikshvaku kings, rulers of men, obtained this earth; obtaining the best of purohitas, Vasishtha, foremost of sages, those kings offered sacrifices, O joy of the Kurus. For he, the brahmarishi, performed the sacrifices for all those foremost of kings, as Brihaspati does for the immortals."
