वसिष्ठ उवाच
ततस् तं क्रोधजं तात और्वो ऽग्निं वरुणालये ॥
उत्ससर्ज स चैवाप उपयुङ्क्ते महोदधौ ॥
महद् धयशिरो भूत्वा यत् तद् वेदविदो विदुः ॥
तम् अग्निम् उद्गिरन् वक्त्रात् पिबत्य् आपो महोदधौ ॥

उत्ससर्ज सः च एव आपः उपयुङ्क्ते महोदधौutsasarja saḥ ca eva āpaḥ upayuṅkte mahodadhaureleased; and it consumes the waters in the great ocean;
महत् हयशिरः भूत्वा यत् तत् वेदविदः विदुःmahat hayaśiraḥ bhūtvā yat tat vedavidaḥ viduḥhaving become a great horse's head, which the knowers of the Veda know,
तम् अग्निम् उद्गिरन् वक्त्रात् पिबति आपः महोदधौtam agnim udgiran vaktrāt pibati āpaḥ mahodadhaubelching forth that fire from its mouth, it drinks the waters in the great ocean;

अनुवाद

Vasishtha said: "Then Aurva released that fire born of anger into the abode of Varuna -- the ocean; and it consumes the waters in the great ocean. Having become a great horse's head, which the knowers of the Veda know, belching forth that fire from its mouth, it drinks the waters in the great ocean."
