अथ तं पुरुषव्याघ्रम् अन्तर्जलचरो महान् ॥
निजग्राह जले ग्राहः कुन्तीपुत्रं धनंजयम् ॥
स तम् आदाय कौन्तेयो विस्फुरन्तं जलेचरम् ॥
उदतिष्ठन् महाबाहुर् बलेन बलिनां वरः ॥

अनुवाद
"Then that tiger among men was seized in the water by a great dweller within the waters - a crocodile - the son of Kunti, Dhananjaya; he, the son of Kunti, having seized that struggling water creature, rose up, the mighty-armed, by his strength - the best of the strong."

Here that which destroyed the weak is powerless before the hero. It is significant that the crocodile which carried off ascetics is itself seized and drawn out by Arjuna: where the defenseless perished, there the strength of the righteous triumphs. Evil unconquerable by the meek is crushed by the hand of a defender. Thus the scripture reveals Arjuna's might; and the predator's grip turns into its own captivity.
