अनुवाद
‘For who, having eaten food there as a guest, would break the vessel, thinking himself born in a good family — what man would ever do so? And who, desiring a union and honoring past friendship, being a suitor for her hand, would act with such audacity?’

Here Balarama reproaches figuratively — ‘to break the vessel one ate from.’ The comparison is significant: to answer hospitality with audacity is like defiling the vessel that fed you; moreover, one who seeks kinship does not take by force. Here is a reproach for seeming ingratitude; but this reproach rests on ignorance of the true course of events. Thus the scripture presents the argument of wounded hospitality; and this very argument Krishna will turn into praise for Arjuna.
