नारदेनैवम् उक्तस् तु धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
प्राञ्जलिर् भ्रातृभिः सार्धं तैश् च सर्वैर् नृपैर् वृतः ॥
नारदं प्रत्युवाचेदं धर्मराजो महामनाः ॥
सभाः कथय ताः सर्वाः श्रोतुम् इच्छामहे वयम् ॥

अनुवाद
Yudhishthira said: "Thus addressed by Narada, the great-hearted Dharmaraja Yudhishthira, with palms joined, surrounded by his brothers and all those kings, answered Narada: 'Tell all those halls — we wish to hear.'"

Here the wish to listen is expressed humbly — 'with palms joined.' It is significant that not the king alone but the whole assembly longs to hear of the celestial: good curiosity about the higher is contagious and unites people. Thus the scripture shows a shared striving toward sacred knowledge; and next the king specifies just what he is asking about.
