"Krishna, the knower, having met Partha Dhananjaya, the terror of the asuras, shone as the magnanimous Bhutapati himself, the blessed one, shines upon meeting Guha. Kiritin told the elder brother of Gada everything that had duly happened in the forests, and asked again how Subhadra and Abhimanyu fared. Then Madhuha, having duly honored the Parthas, Krishna, and the priest, sat down beside them and, praising King Yudhishthira, said: 'Pandava, dharma is higher than gaining a kingdom; for its sake, O king, they speak of austerity. Walking your own dharma with truth and honesty, you have conquered both this world and the next. From the beginning you studied knowledge, observed vows, fully obtained the Dhanurveda; having gained wealth through the dharma of a kshatriya, you attained, as it were, all the ancient sacrifices. You have no taste for rustic pleasures, you do nothing out of desire, lord of men, and you do not abandon dharma out of greed for gain. Therefore by nature you are Dharmaraja. Charity, truth, austerity, faith, peace, steadfastness, and forbearance -- even having gained kingdoms, riches, and pleasures, you always love these as the highest, Partha. When the multitude of Kuru-Jangala saw Krishna helpless in the assembly, when righteous conduct was cast aside, who but you, Pandava, could have endured that? Without doubt, soon, having fulfilled every desire in abundance, you will rightly protect your subjects. And we stand ready to subdue the Kurus, once your vow is fulfilled.'"
