धौम्यं च कृष्णां च युधिष्ठिरं च; यमौ च भीमं च दशार्हसिंहः ॥
उवाच दिष्ट्या भवतां शिवेन; प्राप्तः किरीटी मुदितः कृतास्त्रः ॥
प्रोवाच कृष्णाम् अपि याज्ञसेनीं; दशार्हभर्ता सहितः सुहृद्भिः ॥
कृष्णे धनुर्वेदरतिप्रधानाः; सत्यव्रतास् ते शिशवः सुशीलाः ॥
सद्भिः सदैवाचरितं समाधिं; चरन्ति पुत्रास् तव याज्ञसेनि ॥
राज्येन राष्ट्रैश् च निमन्त्र्यमाणाः; पित्रा च कृष्णे तव सोदरैश् च ॥
न यज्ञसेनस्य न मातुलानां; गृहेषु बाला रतिम् आप्नुवन्ति ॥
आनर्तम् एवाभिमुखाः शिवेन; गत्वा धनुर्वेदरतिप्रधानाः ॥
तवात्मजा वृष्णिपुरं प्रविश्य; न दैवतेभ्यः स्पृहयन्ति कृष्णे ॥
यथा त्वम् एवार्हसि तेषु वृत्तिं; प्रयोक्तुम् आर्या च यथैव कुन्ती ॥
तेष्व् अप्रमादेन सदा करोति; तथा च भूयश् च तथा सुभद्रा ॥
यथानिरुद्धस्य यथाभिमन्योर्; यथा सुनीथस्य यथैव भानोः ॥
तथा विनेता च गतिश् च कृष्णे; तवात्मजानाम् अपि रौक्मिणेयः ॥
गदासिचर्मग्रहणेषु शूरान्; अस्त्रेषु शिक्षासु रथाश्वयाने ॥
सम्यग् विनेता विनयत्य् अतन्द्रीस्; तांश् चाभिमन्युः सततं कुमारः ॥
स चापि सम्यक् प्रणिधाय शिक्षाम्; अस्त्राणि चैषां गुरुवत् प्रदाय ॥
तवात्मजानां च तथाभिमन्योः; पराक्रमैस् तुष्यति रौक्मिणेयः ॥
यदा विहारं प्रसमीक्षमाणाः; प्रयान्ति पुत्रास् तव याज्ञसेनि ॥
एकैकम् एषाम् अनुयान्ति तत्र; रथाश् च यानानि च दन्तिनश् च ॥

sadbhiḥ sadaivācaritaṃ samādhiṃ; caranti putrās tava yājñaseni ||
rājyena rāṣṭraiś ca nimantryamāṇāḥ; pitrā ca kṛṣṇe tava sodaraiś ca ||
na yajñasenasya na mātulānāṃ; gṛheṣu bālā ratim āpnuvanti ||
ānartam evābhimukhāḥ śivena; gatvā dhanurvedaratipradhānāḥ ||
tavātmajā vṛṣṇipuraṃ praviśya; na daivatebhyaḥ spṛhayanti kṛṣṇe ||
yathā tvam evārhasi teṣu vṛttiṃ; prayoktum āryā ca yathaiva kuntī ||
teṣv apramādena sadā karoti; tathā ca bhūyaś ca tathā subhadrā ||
yathāniruddhasya yathābhimanyor; yathā sunīthasya yathaiva bhānoḥ ||
tathā vinetā ca gatiś ca kṛṣṇe; tavātmajānām api raukmiṇeyaḥ ||
gadāsicarmagrahaṇeṣu śūrān; astreṣu śikṣāsu rathāśvayāne ||
samyag vinetā vinayaty atandrīs; tāṃś cābhimanyuḥ satataṃ kumāraḥ ||
sa cāpi samyak praṇidhāya śikṣām; astrāṇi caiṣāṃ guruvat pradāya ||
tavātmajānāṃ ca tathābhimanyoḥ; parākramais tuṣyati raukmiṇeyaḥ ||
yadā vihāraṃ prasamīkṣamāṇāḥ; prayānti putrās tava yājñaseni ||
ekaikam eṣām anuyānti tatra; rathāś ca yānāni ca dantinaś ca ||
"Then the lion of the Dasharhas said to Dhaumya, Krishna, Yudhishthira, the twins, and Bhima: 'It is fortunate that Kiritin has returned to you safely, joyful and skilled in arms.' And the husband of Dasharhi, together with his friends, said to Yajnaseni: 'Krishna, your sons are truthful, of good conduct, devoted above all to the Dhanurveda, and live in good discipline, as the virtuous have always done. Though invited by the kingdom and the lands, by their father, by your brothers, Krishna, by the house of Yajnasena and by kinsmen, the children find no joy there. Having gone to Anarta, devoted to the Dhanurveda, they entered the city of the Vrishnis and do not envy even the gods, Krishna. Just as you yourself are worthy to treat them, as the noble Kunti is, so Subhadra always cares for them with unfailing attention, and even more. As for Aniruddha, as for Abhimanyu, as for Sunitha, and as for Bhanu, so for your sons too, Krishna, Rukmini's son is teacher and guide. Abhimanyu, the young hero, constantly and tirelessly trains them in the use of mace, sword, and shield, in weapons, in the sciences, in the driving of chariots and horses. And Rukmini's son, having rightly devoted himself to their training and given them weapons as a teacher would, rejoices in the valor of your sons and of Abhimanyu. When your sons, Yajnaseni, go out to take their ease, each of them is followed by chariots, carriages, and elephants.'"
