Having the hero Dhrishtadyumna as their ally, they will fight against you. With that man of virtuous soul who never abandons truth out of anger or fear, temptation or desire for wealth, or in dispute; who, O king, is a great authority in matters of religion, being foremost among those who practice virtue -- with him, who has never had an enemy, the sons of Pandu will fight against you. He whom no one on earth equals in the might of arms, who, wielding his bow, subdued all kings, and who in ancient times conquered the entire peoples of Kashi, Anga, and Magadha, as well as Kalinga -- with this Bhimasena the sons of Pandu will fight against you.

This passage (5.50.21-25) develops the central theme of the Udyoga-parva: the effort toward peace unfolds against the backdrop of an already inevitable war. Key theme: the Pandavas. Dharma here reveals itself through speech, the choice of embassy, faithfulness to promises, and the responsibility of kings for the consequences of their decisions.
