तत्र किं प्राप्तकालं नः प्रणिपातः पलायनम् ॥
प्राणान् वा संपरित्यज्य प्रतियुध्यामहे परान् ॥
प्रतियुद्धे तु नियतः स्याद् अस्माकं पराजयः ॥
युधिष्ठिरस्य सर्वे हि पार्थिवा वशवर्तिनः ॥
विरक्तराष्ट्राश् च वयं मित्राणि कुपितानि नः ॥
धिक्कृताः पार्थिवैः सर्वैः स्वजनेन च सर्वशः ॥
प्रणिपाते तु दोषो ऽस्ति बन्धूनां शाश्वतीः समाः ॥
पितरं त्व् एव शोचामि प्रज्ञानेत्रं जनेश्वरम् ॥
मत्कृते दुःखम् आपन्नं क्लेशं प्राप्तम् अनन्तकम् ॥
कृतं हि तव पुत्रैश् च परेषाम् अवरोधनम् ॥
मत्प्रियार्थं पुरैवैतद् विदितं ते नरोत्तम ॥

prāṇān vā saṃparityajya pratiyudhyāmahe parān ||
pratiyuddhe tu niyataḥ syād asmākaṃ parājayaḥ ||
yudhiṣṭhirasya sarve hi pārthivā vaśavartinaḥ ||
viraktarāṣṭrāś ca vayaṃ mitrāṇi kupitāni naḥ ||
dhikkṛtāḥ pārthivaiḥ sarvaiḥ svajanena ca sarvaśaḥ ||
praṇipāte tu doṣo 'sti bandhūnāṃ śāśvatīḥ samāḥ ||
pitaraṃ tv eva śocāmi prajñānetraṃ janeśvaram ||
matkṛte duḥkham āpannaṃ kleśaṃ prāptam anantakam ||
kṛtaṃ hi tava putraiś ca pareṣām avarodhanam ||
matpriyārthaṃ puraivaitad viditaṃ te narottama ||

अनुवाद

Having heard of the Pandavas' defeat at dice, you, O king, laughed like a child, saying, "This is won, this is gained!" When the harshest words were addressed to the sons of Pritha, you did not intervene, pleased at the prospect that your sons would conquer the whole kingdom.
