जघान सुबहूंस् तेषां संरब्धः कुरुसत्तमः ॥
ततस् ते शरणं जग्मुर् देवव्रतम् इमं भयात् ॥
स भीष्मः सुसमर्थो ऽयम् अस्माभिः सहितो रणे ॥
परान् विजेतुं तस्मात् ते व्येतु भीर् भरतर्षभ ॥
इत्य् एषां निश्चयो ह्य् आसीत् तत्कालम् अमितौजसाम् ॥
पुरा परेषां पृथिवी कृत्स्नासीद् वशवर्तिनी ॥
अस्मान् पुनर् अमी नाद्य समर्था जेतुम् आहवे ॥
छिन्नपक्षाः परे ह्य् अद्य वीर्यहीनाश् च पाण्डवाः ॥
अस्मत्संस्था च पृथिवी वर्तते भरतर्षभ ॥
एकार्थाः सुखदुःखेषु मयानीताश् च पार्थिवाः ॥
अप्य् अग्निं प्रविशेयुस् ते समुद्रं वा परंतप ॥
मदर्थे पार्थिवाः सर्वे तद् विद्धि कुरुसत्तम ॥

jaghāna subahūṃs teṣāṃ saṃrabdhaḥ kurusattamaḥ ||
tatas te śaraṇaṃ jagmur devavratam imaṃ bhayāt ||
sa bhīṣmaḥ susamartho 'yam asmābhiḥ sahito raṇe ||
parān vijetuṃ tasmāt te vyetu bhīr bharatarṣabha ||
ity eṣāṃ niścayo hy āsīt tatkālam amitaujasām ||
purā pareṣāṃ pṛthivī kṛtsnāsīd vaśavartinī ||
asmān punar amī nādya samarthā jetum āhave ||
chinnapakṣāḥ pare hy adya vīryahīnāś ca pāṇḍavāḥ ||
asmatsaṃsthā ca pṛthivī vartate bharatarṣabha ||
ekārthāḥ sukhaduḥkheṣu mayānītāś ca pārthivāḥ ||
apy agniṃ praviśeyus te samudraṃ vā paraṃtapa ||
madarthe pārthivāḥ sarve tad viddhi kurusattama ||

अनुवाद

Yet you think, O best of kings, that all this was won by you. When your sons, seized by the king of the Gandharvas, were about to drown in a boundless sea with no raft to save them, it was Partha, O king, who brought them back.
