ततः स पुरुषव्याघ्रः संजहार वपुः स्वकम् ॥
तां दिव्याम् अद्भुतां चित्राम् ऋद्धिमत्ताम् अरिंदमः ॥
ततः सात्यकिम् आदाय पाणौ हार्दिक्यम् एव च ॥
ऋषिभिस् तैर् अनुज्ञातो निर्ययौ मधुसूदनः ॥
ऋषयो ऽन्तर्हिता जग्मुस् ततस् ते नारदादयः ॥
तस्मिन् कोलाहले वृत्ते तद् अद्भुतम् अभूत् तदा ॥
तं प्रस्थितम् अभिप्रेक्ष्य कौरवाः सह राजभिः ॥
अनुजग्मुर् नरव्याघ्रं देवा इव शतक्रतुम् ॥
अचिन्तयन्न् अमेयात्मा सर्वं तद् राजमण्डलम् ॥
निश्चक्राम ततः शौरिः सधूम इव पावकः ॥

tāṃ divyām adbhutāṃ citrām ṛddhimattām ariṃdamaḥ ||
tataḥ sātyakim ādāya pāṇau hārdikyam eva ca ||

ṛṣayo 'ntarhitā jagmus tatas te nāradādayaḥ ||
tasmin kolāhale vṛtte tad adbhutam abhūt tadā ||
taṃ prasthitam abhiprekṣya kauravāḥ saha rājabhiḥ ||
anujagmur naravyāghraṃ devā iva śatakratum ||
acintayann ameyātmā sarvaṃ tad rājamaṇḍalam ||
niścakrāma tataḥ śauriḥ sadhūma iva pāvakaḥ ||
Then that tiger among men, subduer of foes, withdrew his own divine, wondrous, manifold, and majestic form. Taking Satyaki and Hardikya by the hand, Madhusudana, given leave by those rishis, went forth. The rishis, beginning with Narada, vanished and departed; amid that uproar it was then a great wonder. When the Kauravas, together with the kings, saw him setting out, they followed the tiger among men, as the gods follow Shatakratu. Giving no heed to the whole circle of kings, the immeasurable Shauri went forth, like fire wrapped in smoke.
