उद्भावयस्व वीर्यं वा तां वा गच्छ ध्रुवां गतिम् ॥
धर्मं पुत्राग्रतः कृत्वा किंनिमित्तं हि जीवसि ॥
इष्टापूर्तं हि ते क्लीब कीर्तिश् च सकला हता ॥
विच्छिन्नं भोगमूलं ते किंनिमित्तं हि जीवसि ॥
शत्रुर् निमज्जता ग्राह्यो जङ्घायां प्रपतिष्यता ॥
विपरिच्छिन्नमूलो ऽपि न विषीदेत् कथं चन ॥
उद्यम्य धुरम् उत्कर्षेद् आजानेयकृतं स्मरन् ॥
कुरु सत्त्वं च मानं च विद्धि पौरुषम् आत्मनः ॥
उद्भावय कुलं मग्नं त्वत्कृते स्वयम् एव हि ॥
यस्य वृत्तं न जल्पन्ति मानवा महद् अद्भुतम् ॥
राशिवर्धनमात्रं स नैव स्त्री न पुनः पुमान् ॥
udbhāvayasva vīryaṃ vā tāṃ vā gaccha dhruvāṃ gatim ||
dharmaṃ putrāgrataḥ kṛtvā kiṃnimittaṃ hi jīvasi ||
iṣṭāpūrtaṃ hi te klība kīrtiś ca sakalā hatā ||
vicchinnaṃ bhogamūlaṃ te kiṃnimittaṃ hi jīvasi ||
śatrur nimajjatā grāhyo jaṅghāyāṃ prapatiṣyatā ||
viparicchinnamūlo 'pi na viṣīdet kathaṃ cana ||
udyamya dhuram utkarṣed ājāneyakṛtaṃ smaran ||
kuru sattvaṃ ca mānaṃ ca viddhi pauruṣam ātmanaḥ ||
udbhāvaya kulaṃ magnaṃ tvatkṛte svayam eva hi ||
yasya vṛttaṃ na jalpanti mānavā mahad adbhutam ||
rāśivardhanamātraṃ sa naiva strī na punaḥ pumān ||
'Show forth your valor, or go to that certain fate; having placed dharma before your son, for what reason do you live? O impotent one, your merit from sacrifice and charity, and all your fame, are destroyed; the root of your enjoyments is severed — for what reason do you live? Even a drowning man must seize his enemy by the leg; even one who is falling should not despair, though his roots be cut away. Having taken up the burden, he should draw it upward, remembering the example of a noble horse. Show fortitude and honor; know your own manly strength. Raise up, yourself, your lineage that has sunk into misfortune because of you. He of whose great and wondrous deed people do not speak is merely an addition to the crowd: he is neither woman nor man.'
