अनुवाद

Sanjaya said: "Having heard these words of Keshava, Kiriti, trembling, with joined palms, bowed once more to Krishna and, choked with fear, spoke: 'O Hrishikesha, it is fitting that the world rejoices and is drawn to love by Your renown; the rakshasas flee in fear in every direction, and the hosts of siddhas bow down to You. And how should they not bow to You, O great one, who surpass even Brahma, the primal creator? O boundless one, Lord of gods, abode of the world, You are the imperishable — being, non-being, and that which is beyond them. You are the first God, the ancient Purusha, the supreme treasury of this universe; You are the knower, the knowable, and the highest abode; by You the universe is pervaded, O form without end. You are Vayu, Yama, Agni, Varuna, the moon, Prajapati, and the forefather. Homage, homage to You a thousand times; and again and yet again, homage, homage to You. Homage to You before and behind; homage to You on every side, O All. You possess boundless power and measureless might; You encompass everything, and therefore You are everything. Thinking of You as a friend, I spoke rashly, saying, "O Krishna, O Yadava, O friend," not knowing this greatness of Yours, whether from carelessness or from affection. And if in jest I showed You disrespect, at rest, on the couch, while seated, or at meals, alone or in the presence of others, O Achyuta, for all this I beg Your forgiveness, O immeasurable one. You are the father of the world, of all that moves and does not move; You are its object of worship and its greater teacher. There is none equal to You, still less anyone greater, even in the three worlds, O one of incomparable power. Therefore, bowing and prostrating my body, I entreat Your grace, O Lord worthy of praise. As a father bears with a son, as a friend with a friend, as a lover with a beloved, so You, O God, should bear with me. Having seen what was never seen before, I rejoice, yet my mind trembles with fear. O God, show me again that former form. Be gracious, Lord of gods, abode of the world. I wish to see You just as before: crowned, with mace and discus in hand. O thousand-armed one, O universal form, become again that same four-armed form.'"
