व्यूहिष्यामि च तं व्यूहं यं पार्थो न तरिष्यति ॥
तस्माद् युध्यस्व मा भैस् त्वं स्वधर्मम् अनुपालय ॥
पितृपैतामहं मार्गम् अनुयाहि नराधिप ॥

"For against one guarded by my arm even the gods are powerless; and I shall array such a formation that Partha will not break through it. Therefore fight, do not fear, uphold your own duty; walk the path of fathers and forefathers, O sovereign."

Drona heals fear not with a shield of defense alone, but with a call to duty: "svadharmam anupālaya... pitṛpaitāmahaṃ mārgam anuyāhi" -- "uphold your own duty, walk the path of fathers." It is telling that the same word -- svadharma -- was spoken over the dying Abhimanyu, who fulfilled his duty to the end; now it is addressed to the man guilty of that death, and in this lies a bitter irony. The true remedy for fear is not another's hand but a return to one's own duty. The verse teaches that courage is born not from promises of protection but from fidelity to svadharma: only one standing firm in duty attains a peace unreachable by one who merely seeks shelter.
