देवनागरी
तेषां श्रमं च ग्लानिं च वेपथुं वमथुं व्रणान् ॥
सर्वं व्यपानुदत् कृष्णः कुशलो ह्य् अश्वकर्मणि ॥
शल्यान् उद्धृत्य पाणिभ्यां परिमृज्य च तान् हयान् ॥
उपावृत्य यथान्यायं पाययाम् आस वारि सः ॥

अनुवाद
Their weariness and exhaustion, trembling, foam, and wounds — all this Krishna removed, for he is skilled in horse-craft. Having drawn out the arrows with his hands and wiped down those horses, having tended them as is proper, he gave them water to drink.

The Lord shows both skill and tenderness: 'śalyān uddhṛtya pāṇibhyām... pāyayām āsa,' with His own hands He draws out the arrows, wipes them down, gives them water. 'Kuśalaḥ aśvakarmaṇi,' skilled in horse-craft — God is capable even of this. It is telling that the Lord of all descends to the groom's trade out of love. The verse teaches that God's mercy is active and skillful: He does not disdain any labor for the sake of the suffering, healing the wounded and speechless with His own hands; and the Lord's greatness shines fullest not in wonders of power but in tender care for the small and defenseless.
