ततो युधिष्ठिरो द्रोणं नवत्या नतपर्वणाम् ॥
आजघ्ने भरतश्रेष्ठ सर्वमर्मसु भारत ॥
तं द्रोणः पञ्चविंशत्या निजघान स्तनान्तरे ॥
रोषितो भरतश्रेष्ठ कौन्तेयेन यशस्विना ॥
भूय एव तु विंशत्या सायकानां समाचिनोत् ॥
साश्वसूतध्वजं द्रोणः पश्यतां सर्वधन्विनाम् ॥

ājaghne bharataśreṣṭha sarvamarmasu bhārata ||
taṃ droṇaḥ pañcaviṃśatyā nijaghāna stanāntare ||
roṣito bharataśreṣṭha kaunteyena yaśasvinā ||
bhūya eva tu viṃśatyā sāyakānāṃ samācinot ||
sāśvasūtadhvajaṃ droṇaḥ paśyatāṃ sarvadhanvinām ||

सर्वमर्मसु भारतsarvamarmasu bhāratain all his vital spots, O Bharata; over all his vulnerable places, O descendant of Bharata
तम् द्रोणः पञ्चविंशत्याtam droṇaḥ pañcaviṃśatyāhim Drona with twenty-five; him Drona with twenty-five
निजघान स्तनान्तरेnijaghāna stanāntarestruck between the breasts; struck in the chest, between the nipples

अनुवाद

"Then Yudhishthira struck Drona with ninety smooth-jointed arrows in all his vital spots, O best of the Bharatas. Him Drona, enraged by the renowned son of Kunti, struck with twenty-five arrows between the breasts, O best of the Bharatas; and again covered him — with his horses, charioteer, and banner — with twenty more arrows, before the eyes of all the archers."
