चकार सात्यकी राजंस् तत्र कर्मातिमानुषम् ॥
अयोधयच् च यद् द्रोणं रश्मीञ् जग्राह च स्वयम् ॥
ततः शरशतेनैव युयुधानो महारथः ॥
अविध्यद् ब्राह्मणं संख्ये हृष्टरूपो विशां पते ॥
तस्य द्रोणः शरान् पञ्च प्रेषयाम् आस भारत ॥
ते तस्य कवचं भित्त्वा पपुः शोणितम् आहवे ॥
cakāra sātyakī rājaṃs tatra karmātimānuṣam ||
ayodhayac ca yad droṇaṃ raśmīñ jagrāha ca svayam ||
tataḥ śaraśatenaiva yuyudhāno mahārathaḥ ||
avidhyad brāhmaṇaṃ saṃkhye hṛṣṭarūpo viśāṃ pate ||
tasya droṇaḥ śarān pañca preṣayām āsa bhārata ||
te tasya kavacaṃ bhittvā papuḥ śoṇitam āhave ||
Satyaki performed there, O king, a superhuman deed — that he both fought against Drona and himself took up the reins. Then Yuyudhana, the great warrior, pierced the brahmin in battle with a hundred arrows, his face joyful, O lord of peoples. At him Drona sent five arrows, O Bharata; piercing his armor, they drank blood in the fight.

Satyaki does "karma atimānuṣam," a deed beyond human measure: he drives the chariot himself and fights Drona at once. Left without a charioteer, he does not fall back but doubles his effort. It is telling that hardship did not break him but raised him higher. The verse teaches that the extremity of trouble breeds unheard-of strength in the steadfast: left without help, he takes on another's labor besides his own and performs what exceeds the human measure — for a spirit that has not surrendered overcomes even deprivation itself.
