तम् अर्जुनः प्रत्युवाच प्रसादात् तव माधव ॥
प्रतिज्ञेयं मयोत्तीर्णा विबुधैर् अपि दुस्तरा ॥
अनाश्चर्यो जयस् तेषां येषां नाथो ऽसि माधव ॥
त्वत्प्रसादान् महीं कृत्स्नां संप्राप्स्यति युधिष्ठिरः ॥
तवैव भारो वार्ष्णेय तवैव विजयः प्रभो ॥
वर्धनीयास् तव वयं प्रेष्याश् च मधुसूदन ॥
tam arjunaḥ pratyuvāca prasādāt tava mādhava ||
pratijñeyaṃ mayottīrṇā vibudhair api dustarā ||
anāścaryo jayas teṣāṃ yeṣāṃ nātho 'si mādhava ||
tvatprasādān mahīṃ kṛtsnāṃ saṃprāpsyati yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
tavaiva bhāro vārṣṇeya tavaiva vijayaḥ prabho ||
vardhanīyās tava vayaṃ preṣyāś ca madhusūdana ||
To him Arjuna replied: "By your grace, Madhava, this vow, hard to accomplish even for the gods, has been fulfilled by me. No wonder is the victory of those whose lord you are, Madhava; by your grace, Yudhishthira will obtain the whole earth. Yours alone is the burden, Varshneya, yours alone is the victory, lord; it is for us to grow through you, and we are your servants, o Madhusudana."

Here is the summit of humility: Arjuna ascribes the victory not to himself but to Krishna — "yours is the burden, yours the victory, we are your servants." It is telling that the greatest of warriors, in his hour of triumph, claims no glory for himself but lays it at the Lord's feet. The verse teaches that the true devotee sees in his every success a gift and a work of the Lord; and he who, having accomplished the impossible, says "this is Your victory, I am only Your servant," attains something greater than victory — true bhakti.
