द्रौपदेया महेष्वासा राक्षसश् च घटोत्कचः ॥
ससेनास् ते ऽभ्यवर्तन्त द्रोणम् एव महाद्युतिम् ॥
प्रभद्रकाश् च पाञ्चालाः षट्सहस्राः प्रहारिणः ॥
द्रोणम् एवाभ्यवर्तन्त पुरस्कृत्य शिखण्डिनम् ॥
तथेतरे नरव्याघ्राः पाण्डवानां महारथाः ॥
सहिताः संन्यवर्तन्त द्रोणम् एव द्विजर्षभम् ॥
draupadeyā maheṣvāsā rākṣasaś ca ghaṭotkacaḥ ||
sasenās te 'bhyavartanta droṇam eva mahādyutim ||
prabhadrakāś ca pāñcālāḥ ṣaṭsahasrāḥ prahāriṇaḥ ||
droṇam evābhyavartanta puraskṛtya śikhaṇḍinam ||
tathetare naravyāghrāḥ pāṇḍavānāṃ mahārathāḥ ||
sahitāḥ saṃnyavartanta droṇam eva dvijarṣabham ||
The sons of Draupadi, great archers, and the rakshasa Ghatotkacha, together with their armies, charged at Drona of great splendor. And the Prabhadrakas, the Panchalas, six thousand strong, charged at Drona, having placed Shikhandin in front. So too the other tigers among men, the great warriors of the Pandavas, together turned upon Drona, bull among the brahmins.

The refrain "at Drona indeed" repeats relentlessly: the whole army, down to the last company, is aimed at one man. It is significant how this mounts -- band after band converging on the teacher. The verse teaches that when the inescapable hour has struck, everything gathers toward it as rivers to the sea; and however great the man against whom the whole world stands, the outcome is settled -- not by his weakness, but by the fullness of the force turned upon him.
