"They, who honored dharma above all, devoted to the vow of truth, vigilant, active, patient, scorching their foes then with their might, dwelt there. Bhimasena, mighty of strength, conquered the eastern quarter; the hero Arjuna, the northern; Nakula, the western; and Sahadeva, slayer of enemy heroes, conquered the southern; thus all of them brought the whole earth under their power. Together with the five brothers, resembling the sun, and the sun itself, the earth shone as if under six suns — illumined by the Pandavas, whose valor is true. Then, for some reason, the king of dharma Yudhishthira sent his brother Dhananjaya (Arjuna) into the forest. He, having dwelt in the forest a full year and one month, came then one day to Hrishikesha (Krishna) in Dvaraka. There Bibhatsu (Arjuna) won as his wife the lotus-eyed, sweet-spoken Subhadra, the younger sister of Vasudeva (Krishna). And Subhadra joyfully united with the Pandava Arjuna, as Shachi with great Indra, as Shri (Lakshmi) with Krishna (Vishnu). And the son of Kunti satisfied the god of fire by the burning of the Khandava forest — Bibhatsu together with Vasudeva, O most noble king. That was not too great a burden for Partha, with Keshava at his side — as it was not for Vishnu, whose companion in deeds is resolve itself, in the slaying of foes. And the god of fire gave to Partha the excellent bow Gandiva, two quivers with inexhaustible arrows, and a chariot marked with the sign of the monkey."
