निमित्तभूतस् त्वं चात्र क्रतौ वासिष्ठनन्दन ॥

Here Parashara is shown that he is but the instrument of a greater design. It is significant that the word "nimitta" -- instrument, occasion -- is used: what is happening is not his doing alone, it is woven into a higher providence. Here is a humbling truth: a man who imagines himself the doer is often but a tool in providence's hands; and understanding this, he lets go the pride of anger. Significant too is the gentle "release it, let it be completed": he is given an honorable way to stop, without humiliation. Thus the scripture reveals how awareness of one's smallness before a higher design quenches fury; and Parashara is shown a worthy way out.
