Here a regal nature reveals itself in equanimity before splendor. It is telling that these destitute wanderers sit upon the highest seats without timidity and without wonder: those born to greatness are not amazed by wealth, as though it were their habit. True dignity is lost neither in want nor in magnificence: a king's spirit remains kingly even in rags. So the scripture shows the inner freedom of the Pandavas, and their very composure betrays a high lineage.
