Then he gave the wondrous, mighty bow, increasing fame and glory, unassailable by every weapon and crushing every weapon, the greatest of all instruments, the crusher of hostile armies, one bow equal to a hundred thousand others, increasing the kingdom, variegated with many colors, beautiful, smooth, without flaw, honored by gods, danavas and gandharvas through eternal years — he gave that jewel of a bow, and two great inexhaustible quivers.

Here Gandiva reveals itself as a peerless weapon. It is significant that the bow is 'equal to a hundred thousand' and its quivers inexhaustible: a divine gift surpasses every earthly weapon. An instrument given from above befits the divine undertaking and the one who bears it. Thus the scripture reveals the greatness of Gandiva; and Arjuna, its bearer, is henceforth unconquerable.
