वरुणश् च ददौ तस्मै गदाम् अशनिनिःस्वनाम् ॥
दैत्यान्तकरणीं घोरां नाम्ना कौमोदकीं हरेः ॥

Here the Lord receives the mace Kaumodaki as well. It is significant that both the discus and the mace are eternal emblems of Hari: the Lord's weapons are the visible sign of His power that punishes evil. The attributes of Narayana are not ornament but instruments for the protection of dharma. Thus the scripture reveals the full armament of Krishna; and the Lord, as Narayana, stands ready to crush evil.
