“How will their mother, the ascetic woman, powerless to save them, endure her grief, seeing no rescue for her sons? How will she bear my sons, powerless either to flee or to escape a fall, tormented, rushing about, crying, running? How is my son Jaritari, how is my Sarisrikva, how is Stambamitra, how is Drona, and how is that ascetic woman?”

Here a father's grief embraces both the mother and each of his sons by name. It is telling that he cares not only for the children but also for Jarita's suffering: one who loves feels for everyone dear to him. Thus the breadth of a caring heart is revealed. So the scripture shows the fullness of a father's concern; and in reply Lapita's rebuke will sound.
