Here the account of the four guardians of the world comes to an end, and the gaze turns toward the Highest — toward the hall of the Creator himself. It is significant that the ascent moved from Indra, Yama, Varuna, and Kubera — lords of the parts of creation — to Brahma, the father of all: the mind is led from particular powers to their Source. Thus the scripture prepares for the greatest of halls; and next Brahma's assembly will be revealed.
