译文
'The father, equal to Prajapati, gave him a name there: "Since he is joined by Jara, he became Jarasandha." And he grew, greatly radiant, the son of the lord of Magadha, endowed with [mighty] stature and strength, like fire [fed] by oblations.'

Here the name preserves the memory of his rescuer — 'joined by Jara.' It is significant that the very name of the tyrant carries within it a hidden truth: what is joined can also be sundered — as will come to pass when Bhima tears him in two. Scripture thus quietly foretells his destruction in the name itself; and next comes the sage's return.
