सर्वभूतात्मभूतस्य वायोर् इव शरीरिणः ॥
एष रुद्रं महादेवं त्रिपुरान्तकरं हरम् ॥
सर्वलोकेष्व् अतिबलः स्वयं द्रक्ष्यति मागधः ॥

'All lords of men will be subject to his command, as embodied [creatures] are subject to the wind [breath] that has become the soul of all beings; and this man of Magadha, supremely mighty in all the worlds, will himself behold Rudra Mahadeva, Hara, the destroyer of Tripura.'

Here the prophecy comes to its close: he will behold Rudra himself. It is significant that the sight of the fearsome god [as will happen] coincides with the hour of his death: greatness without dharma leads to a fateful meeting. Scripture thus shows that earthly dominion is perishable and answerable to the highest; and next comes the departure of the sage and of the father.
