In one assembly gather those destined to become enemies: Yudhishthira calls, and Duryodhana and Shakuni come — the future instigators of his downfall. It is notable that in the hour of glory the righteous man does not close his doors to those whose goodwill is doubtful. The verse quietly prepares what is to come: here, amid the rejoicing, the seeds of discord already sit. Remembering this teaches sobriety — outward agreement does not annul hidden enmity; and one who honors kinship and the duty of hospitality receives even the envious under his roof, entrusting the outcome to a higher order rather than to his own caution.
