译文

At Virochana's request (to share his seat), Sudhanvan said: "O son of Prahlada, I touch your splendid golden throne. But I cannot allow myself to be considered your equal, and sit upon it with you." Virochana said: "A piece of wooden plank, an animal hide, or a mat of grass or straw — this alone, O Sudhanvan, befits you. But you do not deserve the same seat as I." Sudhanvan said: "A father and son, brahmanas of the same age and equal learning, two kshatriyas, two vaishyas, and two shudras, may sit together upon the same seat. Besides these, no one else may sit together. Your father used to show me his respect, taking a seat below the one I occupy. You are a child raised in the luxury of the household, and you understand nothing." Virochana said: "Staking all the gold, cattle, horses, and every other treasure we possess among the asuras, let us, O Sudhanvan, put this question to those who can answer it." Sudhanvan said: "Setting aside your gold, cattle, and heroes, O Virochana.
