अथास्त्रम् अरिसंघघ्नं त्वाष्ट्रम् अभ्यस्यद् अर्जुनः ॥
ततो रूपसहस्राणि प्रादुरासन् पृथक् पृथक् ॥
आत्मनः प्रतिरूपैस् तैर् नानारूपैर् विमोहिताः ॥
अन्योन्यम् अर्जुनं मत्वा स्वम् आत्मानं च जघ्निरे ॥
अयम् अर्जुनो ऽयं गोविन्द इमौ यादवपाण्डवौ ॥
इति ब्रुवाणाः संमूढा जघ्नुर् अन्योन्यम् आहवे ॥

译文

Then Arjuna loosed the astra of Tvashtri, which slays hosts of foes; and at once thousands of forms arose, one apart from another. Bewildered by those manifold doubles of him, taking one another — and even themselves — for Arjuna, they fell to striking. "Here is Arjuna, and here is Govinda, here are these two — the Yadava with the Pandava!" — so crying, maddened, they struck one another in the fight.
