译文

With elephants flowing with must, roaring, and toppling, the whole earth became strewn with them, just like the autumnal sky with clouds. Among those elephants assailed by showers of arrows and javelins, a roar rose up, just like [the din] of clouds at the hour of the great flood. Some mighty elephants, smitten by javelins and arrows, quaked at every noise from any creature; others fled away. And some elephants there, pierced by the tusks of [other] elephants, emitted a terrible cry of anguish, just like clouds foretelling calamity.
