तं रणे रभसं दृष्ट्वा सहदेवं महाबलम् ॥
दुर्मुखो नवभिर् बाणैस् ताडयाम् आस भारत ॥

译文
The son of Madri, Sahadeva, enraged, pierced Durmukha with ten arrows as though laughing -- brother [piercing his] advancing brother, O Bharata. Seeing him, mighty Sahadeva, swift in battle, Durmukha struck him with nine arrows.

"Bhrātā bhrātaram" -- brother against brother: the Kauravas and Pandavas are one kin, and arrows fly between kinsmen. In this brief line lies the whole grief of the feud: those close by blood have become mortal foes. It is telling that the smile of battle does not conceal the horror of fratricide. The verse teaches that the gravest calamity of war is not death as such, but that it sets brother against brother; strife born of greed and untruth cuts the bonds of blood and turns kin into each other's slayers.
