Five hundred, with stones raised, fall with their arms severed: the blow raised in evil never has time to land. It is telling that the swing of untruth is cut short in mid-motion. The verse teaches that retribution often overtakes evil before it can strike: the arm that raises a stone against the righteous is severed while still poised — for a blow aimed at truth is outrun by its own reckoning.
