यत् संशोचसि कौरव्य वर्तमाने जनक्षये ॥
त्वम् अस्य जगतो मूलं विनाशस्य न संशयः ॥
स्वयं वैरं महत् कृत्वा पुत्राणां वचने स्थितः ॥
उच्यमानो न गृह्णीषे मर्त्यः पथ्यम् इवौषधम् ॥
स्वयं पीत्वा महाराज कालकूटं सुदुर्जरम् ॥
तस्येदानीं फलं कृत्स्नम् अवाप्नुहि नरोत्तम ॥

译文

"In that you grieve, o Kaurava, amid the ongoing destruction of the people -- you are the root of this world's destruction, there is no doubt. Having yourself created great enmity, abiding by the will of your sons, though counseled you did not heed, as a sick mortal rejects a wholesome medicine. Having yourself drunk, o great king, the kalakuta poison, most hard to digest, now reap its whole fruit, o best of men."
