ततः प्रादुरभूच् छब्दः समिद्धस्य विभावसोः ॥
सामगानां च निर्घोषो नराणां रुदताम् अपि ॥
ततो वज्रप्रधानास् ते वृष्णिवीरकुमारकाः ॥
सर्व एवोदकं चक्रुः स्त्रियश् चैव महात्मनः ॥
अलुप्तधर्मस् तं धर्मं कारयित्वा स फल्गुनः ॥
जगाम वृष्णयो यत्र विनष्टा भरतर्षभ ॥
स तान् दृष्ट्वा निपतितान् कदने भृशदुःखितः ॥
बभूवातीव कौरव्यः प्राप्तकालं चकार च ॥
यथाप्रधानतश् चैव चक्रे सर्वाः क्रियास् तदा ॥
ये हता ब्रह्मशापेन मुसलैर् एरकोद्भवैः ॥

sāmagānāṃ ca nirghoṣo narāṇāṃ rudatām api ||
tato vajrapradhānās te vṛṣṇivīrakumārakāḥ ||
sarva evodakaṃ cakruḥ striyaś caiva mahātmanaḥ ||
aluptadharmas taṃ dharmaṃ kārayitvā sa phalgunaḥ ||
jagāma vṛṣṇayo yatra vinaṣṭā bharatarṣabha ||
sa tān dṛṣṭvā nipatitān kadane bhṛśaduḥkhitaḥ ||
babhūvātīva kauravyaḥ prāptakālaṃ cakāra ca ||
yathāpradhānataś caiva cakre sarvāḥ kriyās tadā ||
ye hatā brahmaśāpena musalair erakodbhavaiḥ ||
Then arose the crackling of the blazing fire, the chanting of the Sama-singers, and the great lament of the weeping people. Arjuna, righteous of soul, having established the dharma of the Vrishnis, O Kshatta, then performed the sacred funeral rites.
