The examination of samādhi begins, and it occupies six verses; it is worth examining the construction, for it is orderly. First, a division by place: in the heart and outside. Then each of the two is divided into with distinction and without distinction.
Then the first is divided once more into by the seen and by the word. In total, six; and the thirty-first verse will say: "by these six samādhis let him pass his time unceasingly." It is worth noting that the division into "in the heart" and "outside" is a peculiarity of this analysis and is rarely found in yogic books.
Samādhi "outside" means: the same state, but with open eyes, on any object. That is, this teaching does not require withdrawal and sitting; and this, to my mind, is its merit. The Vaiṣṇava side accepts such a division and has her own correspondence; and that the body moves of itself while the one within it is motionless was discussed when reading the Saubhāgyalakṣmī (2.18).
Let us add what she adds to the word samādhi, cited when reading the Jābāla-darśana (1.5). Her definition is this: the mind unceasingly occupied with the Lord; and so for her, samādhi is in essence savikalpa, "with distinction," for it has an object. And her argument, cited when reading the Varāha (4.38), we repeat briefly here: "with seed" means not that the seed of transmigration remains, but that there is something to look at.
