एवम् उक्त्वा धर्मराजस् तम् अध्यापयत प्रभुः ॥
दीक्षितं विधिना तेन यतवाक्कायमानसम् ॥
अनुजज्ञे ततो वीरं भ्राता भ्रातरम् अग्रजः ॥
निदेशाद् धर्मराजस्य द्रष्टुं देवं पुरंदरम् ॥
धनुर् गाण्डीवम् आदाय तथाक्षय्यौ महेषुधी ॥
कवची सतलत्राणो बद्धगोधाङ्गुलित्रवान् ॥
हुत्वाग्निं ब्राह्मणान् निष्कैः स्वस्ति वाच्य महाभुजः ॥
प्रातिष्ठत महाबाहुः प्रगृहीतशरासनः ॥
वधाय धार्तराष्ट्राणां निःश्वस्योर्ध्वम् उदीक्ष्य च ॥
तं दृष्ट्वा तत्र कौन्तेयं प्रगृहीतशरासनम् ॥
अब्रुवन् ब्राह्मणाः सिद्धा भूतान्य् अन्तर्हितानि च ॥
क्षिप्रं प्राप्नुहि कौन्तेय मनसा यद् यद् इच्छसि ॥

anujajñe tato vīraṃ bhrātā bhrātaram agrajaḥ ||
nideśād dharmarājasya draṣṭuṃ devaṃ puraṃdaram ||
dhanur gāṇḍīvam ādāya tathākṣayyau maheṣudhī ||
kavacī satalatrāṇo baddhagodhāṅgulitravān ||
hutvāgniṃ brāhmaṇān niṣkaiḥ svasti vācya mahābhujaḥ ||
prātiṣṭhata mahābāhuḥ pragṛhītaśarāsanaḥ ||
vadhāya dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṃ niḥśvasyordhvam udīkṣya ca ||
taṃ dṛṣṭvā tatra kaunteyaṃ pragṛhītaśarāsanam ||
abruvan brāhmaṇāḥ siddhā bhūtāny antarhitāni ca ||
kṣipraṃ prāpnuhi kaunteya manasā yad yad icchasi ||

प्रातिष्ठत महाबाहुः प्रगृहीतशरासनः वधाय धार्तराष्ट्राणाम् निःश्वस्य ऊर्ध्वम् उदीक्ष्य चprātiṣṭhata mahābāhuḥ pragṛhītaśarāsanaḥ vadhāya dhārtarāṣṭrāṇām niḥśvasya ūrdhvam udīkṣya cathe mighty-armed one set out, holding his bow and arrows, for the destruction of the sons of Dhritarashtra, having sighed and looked upward

Translation

Yudhishthira instructed Arjuna, consecrated him, and let him go. Arjuna took up Gandiva, the inexhaustible quivers, his sword and armor; he made a fire offering, gave gifts to the brahmins, received their blessing, and set out. The brahmins, the siddhas, and the unseen beings said to him: 'Swiftly attain all that you desire in your mind.'
