Vaishampayana said: 'The gods, together with the gandharvas, learning Shakra's wish, brought the finest arghya and honored Partha. They gave the king's son padya and water for achamana, and led him into the abode of Purandara. Thus honored, Jishnu dwelt in his father's house, studying the great weapons along with their recall. From Shakra's own hand he received the beloved, irresistible vajra and the thunderbolts, roaring like clouds and the cries of peacocks. Having received the weapons, the son of Kunti remembered his brothers, but by Purandara's command he dwelt there happily for five years. When the time came, Shakra told him to learn dance, song, and divine music unknown in the world of men from Chitrasena, for this would bring him good. Purandara gave him Chitrasena as a friend, and Partha spent his time with him free of sorrow.'

Even music and dance become part of Arjuna's preparation. Dharma requires not narrow martial strength alone, but complete mastery of oneself, of the senses, and of the culture of the heavenly order.
