भिन्युम् श्यन्ती शोव्याकुलोना
स्वस्रीयं वासुदेस्य पुत्रं गाण्डीन्वनः
थं त्वा विथं वीरं द्रक्ष्याम्य् न्यैर् निपातितम्
हा वी दृष्टो ष्टश् नं स्वप्न वासि मे
हो ह्य् नित्यं मानुष्यं बुद्बुञ्चलम्

adya paśyāmi pṛthivīṃ śūnyām iva hatatviṣam ||
abhimanyum apaśyantī śokavyākulaloca ||
svasrīyaṃ sudevasya putraṃ ṇḍīvadhanvanaḥ ||
kathaṃ tvā virathaṃ raṃ drakṣyāmy anyair nititam ||
ra dṛṣṭo naṣṭaś ca dhanaṃ svapna isi me ||
aho hy anityaṃ nuṣyaṃ jalabudbudacañcalam ||

अहो हि अनित्यम् मानुष्यम्aho hi anityam mānuṣyamoh, how impermanent is human [life]; oh, how fleeting is human existence
जलबुद्बुदचञ्चलम्jalabudbudacañcalamas unstable as a bubble on water; as unstable as a bubble on water
Translation

"Now I see the earth as if empty, darkened, not seeing Abhimanyu — my eyes dimmed by grief. How shall I see you, the hero without his chariot, Vasudeva's nephew through his sister, son of the wielder of Gandiva, cast down by others? O hero, once beheld and now lost, you are to me like wealth seen in a dream. Oh, how fleeting is human existence, as unstable as a bubble on water!"
