सुभद्रे मा शुचः पुत्रं पाञ्चाल्याश्वासयोत्तराम् ॥
गतो ऽभिमन्युः प्रथितां गतिं क्षत्रियपुंगवः ॥
ये चान्ये ऽपि कुले सन्ति पुरुषा नो वरानने ॥
सर्वे ते वै गतिं यान्तु अभिमन्योर् यशस्विनः ॥
कुर्याम तद् वयं कर्म क्रियासुः सुहृदश् च नः ॥
कृतवान् यादृग् अद्यैकस् तव पुत्रो महारथः ॥

subhadre mā śucaḥ putraṃ pāñcālyāśvāsayottarām ||
gato 'bhimanyuḥ prathitāṃ gatiṃ kṣatriyapuṃgavaḥ ||
ye cānye 'pi kule santi puruṣā no varānane ||
sarve te vai gatiṃ yāntu abhimanyor yaśasvinaḥ ||
kuryāma tad vayaṃ karma kriyāsuḥ suhṛdaś ca naḥ ||
kṛtavān yādṛg adyaikas tava putro mahārathaḥ ||

Translation

"Subhadra, do not grieve for your son; with Panchali, comfort Uttara. Abhimanyu, bull among kshatriyas, has gone to a renowned lot. And whatever other men there are in our family, o fair-faced one, may all of them go to the lot of glorious Abhimanyu. May we accomplish that deed, and may our friends accomplish it, such as your son, the great chariot-warrior, alone accomplished today."
