गीतवादित्रसंह्रादैस् ताललास्यसमन्वितम् ॥
वल्गितास्फोटितोत्क्रुष्टैः पुण्यगन्धैश् च सेवितम् ॥
स्तूयमानं स्तवैर् दिव्यैर् मुनिभिर् ब्रह्मवादिभिः ॥
गोप्तारं सर्वभूतानाम् इष्वासधरम् अच्युतम् ॥

[He saw the god] amid the din of songs and music, to rhythm and dance, with leaps, claps, and shouts, wafted with holy fragrances; praised with divine hymns by sages who proclaim the Brahman; the protector of all beings, the bow-bearer, imperishable.

Shiva is revealed amid the jubilation of existence -- songs, dance, the hymns of sages -- and is called 'goptaram sarvabhutanam,' 'the protector of all beings,' 'acyutam,' imperishable. It is telling that around the great ascetic there is no wasteland of silence, but a triumph of praise, and that he himself is not withdrawn from the world but the guardian of all that lives. The verse teaches that the highest worship of God does not sever one from creation: the great ascetic remains the protector of all beings, and his austerity is turned not inward upon himself but toward the good of a world surrounded by the praise of sages.
